Novorossiysk, Russia
This port city on the Black Sea is steeped in historical significance. In ancient times the city was a Greek colony specializing in grain trade and is mentioned the works of Strabo and Ptolemy. The city is fondly referred to by locals as the 'Hero City' because of it's pivotal role in defeating the Nazi troops during WWII. Visitors will see monuments devote to this defeat in the Square of Heroes. Novorossiysk is also home to Abrau-Durso Champagne and visitors may visit the factory and shop for gifts.
